Winner of "Best Neighborhood Bar: Beacon Hill" from The Improper Bostonian & CitySearch, the 21st Amendment has been "Where Beacon Hill Meets" for as long as most can remember. To those who live beyond Beacon Hills' narrow, cobblestone streets, the 21st Amendment is known as the quintessential neighborhood hang out.
Serving lunch & dinner 7 days a week, The 21st Amendment offers casual American dining in an intimate historic tavern. Special event menus are available as well.
The crowd is comfortable (in both stature and in the upholstered seats) and nightly fill this small dining room loaded with dark wood and much brocade. The food is comfortable, too. The cocktails are done just right and the steaks are cooked perfectly. The small menu features as much fish (like cod and a thick loin of tuna) as meat . Side dishes show some pizzazz and the chef may even add a fresh fruit salsa to a piece of grilled fish. Salads are generous and the oysters are always fresh. Theres always a pasta dish or two, the portions are generous and the wine list has enough interesting bottles (although we find the markups to be excessive) to keep most happy. Its mainly regulars who populate the dining area and adjacent bar, but newcomers are greeted with the same cheeriness that is the hallmark of this well-run operation.
The right chef in the right place at the right time makes No. 9 Park just right for Boston. Barbara Lynch's dining destination has it all, down to the interior design---neither trendy nor stuffy, but rather smart and subdued enough to make everyone feel comfy. Owing to its Beacon Hill location, it draws lobbyists and money-movers at lunchtime, while evening paints a broader picture with serious foodies, expense-accounters and oohing suburbanites jockeying for space at the always happening bar, or debating whether to splurge on the nine-course tasting menu at table. After all, it's the cooking that has earned Number Nine such a following: Lynch's pastas are famously superb, including the most rich prune-stuffed gnocchi with seared foie gras in a vin santo glaze; entr, though elegant, retain their rustic roots---as in aged soy-brushed braised short ribs with carrot pur desserts follow the seasonal route, though the signature black-pepper cheesecake is always a must. All that said, we're happiest among the bar-hoppers, mingling with the gracious and talented mixologists on staff while grazing from the slightly less dear cafenu---Gorgonzola fondue with bite-size pieces of tender lamb and brioche is an especially fun favorite.
BIN 26 Enoteca is a Beacon Hill neighborhood restaurant with a seasonally Driven menu and wine list, which changes often.
They serve simple foods to accompany the wines sold there. At BIN 26 enoteca, they offer a menu designed for snacking and sharing, or for a full meal.
BIN 26 enoteca has an international wine list with over fifty wines by glass and nearly two hundred wines by bottles paired with the menu. Guests can simply drop in for an informal dish of pasta or a more formal multi course haute cuisine. Casual but refined is the objective for the brother sister team of Babak Bina and Azita Bina-Seibel, co-proprietors.
Hours of operation: Monday -Thursday 12:00 Noon - 10PM, Friday and Saturday 12:00 Noon - 11:00 PM and Sunday 5:30 PM - 10:00 PM.
Cheers Beacon Hill has become much more than a neighborhood watering hole due to its fame as the inspiration for the hit TV show, Cheers. Formerly known as the Bull & Finch, this Boston legend hardly looks like its televised counterpart on the inside. Busloads of tourist crowd the back room and browse the gift shop. Even so, this place captures the energy of a much-loved pub. While Sam and Diane are not there to greet everyone, the well-known Eddie Doyle, one of the citys favorite bar masters, is sure to be around. Even if he doesnt know your name, hes happy to pose for a picture and serve up a pint. Theres now a second location in Faneuil Hall. Excerpt from Phantom's Great Ate for Pubs

• Ma Clavin's Soups and Stuff
• Woody's Garden Goodies

Grotto It may be a French phrase, but it applies to this little Italian joint, hidden away on---or, rather, in---Beacon Hill's backslope. Though it remains just under the mainstream's radar, the small, subterranean space, painted tomato-red and strewn with decorative accents both romantic and quirky, fills nightly with couples who know and love cucina italiana as much as chef-owner Scott Herritt clearly does. His passion shows in wonderfully rich yet simple signatures such as fonduta with grilled steak tips, gnocchi with short ribs and Gorgonzola, and banana bread pudding with intense caramel ice cream, as well as in their relative value. Seasonal specials, meanwhile, possess both oomph and depth---take asparagus soup with morels and tiny goat cheese gnocchtini drizzled with lemon vinaigrette, by turns sprightly and dusky. The wine list, too, strikes a balance between accessibility and curiosity
Grotto is located at 37 bowdoin street. Bowdoin street connects Cambridge and Beacon Streets, and is the first street east of the State House. lunch: Monday - Friday (11:30am-3:00pm) dinner: Seven days (5:00pm-10:00pm)
Description:
While the Hampshire House is mainly used as a function facility for social or corporate events and weddings, there are some special dates to allow the public to enjoy the beautiful "Library" as well as savor the views of the Boston Public Garden.
This stately restaurant resides upstairs from the famed Bull and Finch Pub (the inspiration for "Cheers") in the library of the former Thayer family mansion. Beneath portraits of Melville, Hawthorne, and other New England literary titans, guests sample sauteed beet greens and caramelized shallot salad, quahog chowder, prime sirloin, and herb-crusted lamb. The Hampshire House is an upscale restaurant that prepares its guests new American and European food. Expect the average entrto cost from $20 to $30, and you should for the most part dress casual.
The home-style Persian cuisine of LaLa Rokh is distinctive, with recipes dating back centuries. The meats, grains, herbs, fruits, vegetables, and spices in these dishes combine to create a sum far greater than its parts. The cuisine is extremely aromatic and flavorful, yet subtle.
Our concept is a restaurant that could be considered upper casual. We want to juxtapose the 1920’s- 1930 building style with the current sophisticated trends of food and wine. This means it falls in between restaurants such as the The Federalist or No. 9 Park and Emmets or The Beantown Pub. It is a place where a person can feel comfortable in a business suit as well as khakis and a button down. It is a place where politicians, business people and students can comfortably enjoy our dining experience.
Scollay Square is a warm inviting environment targeting a menu range of $12-$24 where one could enjoy a Pan Seared Filet Mignon with oven roasted asparagus and crispy potato cake, while savoring a glass of Lalonic Zinfandel; or skillet roasted Mussels with an ice cold Sam Adams. Being seen at the bar will be many guests from Tom Menino to Joe Average, we will cater to all.
